The Junior Handler program
If you're 5–17, you run in regular Happy Ratters trials with an adult alongside, earning points toward titles that belong to you, not the dog. Any dog counts, even a borrowed one. The full rules are in the rule book.
A parent or guardian fills in the application. We email them to confirm, and the number arrives with a welcome.
Any Happy Ratters trial, any dog you're allowed to run, with an adult along. Every run earns points for you, and helping out earns 50 more for each trial you volunteer at!
Report online within 30 days of each trial. A judge or club member can check them right there at the trial, or we email the host club or a judge, and they land on your page.
These titles belong to you, not your dog! Every run you make earns points toward your very own titles, while your four-legged partner racks up points of its own at the same time. It's a fun way to build confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love of the sport.
One form per trial, sent within 30 days, for as many as six dogs. Your name and number are already filled in. Still at the trial? A judge or club member can check your points right then. Otherwise, pick the host club or a judge from that trial and we’ll email them. Once they do, the points land on your page. Planning to volunteer? You can give the club a heads-up before the trial, too.
